In the last six years, I have been living in four different countries and have travelled in eleven. Last year, I had been travelling for six months, switching the location every three days. Hotel rooms, night trains and ship cabins became my homes.
Being on the road in constant movement has really showed me the essence of the lifestyle I had for years, and made me realize how rootless I can feel sometimes. It has triggered important questions about where I do belong, and what I do call home. Documenting my non-permanent home visions became a ritual. Through this ritual, I began to develop my mixed up connection to the idea of “home” and preserve the places where I will never come back again.
This is an ongoing project, and I am at the phase of putting it into a final form. By the way of installing these photographs I would like to reflect on the rootless and unstable feelings I have been processing by creating these photographs, so I would like them to be more intangible than a framed print on the wall.
“In parallel, Kata’s project, "Are We There Yet?", captures the essence of the rootless, nomadic lifestyle. In her visual installation she documents fleeting scenes in transient homes across various continents. Kata challenges conventional notions of permanence, urging viewers to reflect on the fluid nature of identity in the context of the concept of home.”

Az elmúlt hat évben négy különböző országban éltem, és tizenegyben utaztam. Hosszabb utazásaim alkalmával hotel szobák, éjszakai vonatok és hajó kabinok váltak az otthonaimmá.
A folyamatos, szinte megállás nélküli utazás ráébresztett milyen állandóság nélküli életet is élek, és fontos kérdések merültek fel bennem arról, hogy hová is tartozom, vagy mit hívok otthonnak. Átmeneti otthon vízióim dokumentálása egyfajta rituálévá vált. Ezen a rituálén keresztül dolgozom fel zavaros viszonyomat az “otthon” fogalmával és őrzöm meg azokat a helyeket, ahová többé nem térek vissza.
A felvételeket lágy, áttetsző anyagra tervezem printelni vagy vetíteni, lehetővé téve egyfajta “lebegést” a kiállítótérben, re ektálva ezzel a projekt felvetésére és a sodródás témájára.
“Ezzel párhuzamosan Száraz Kata Are We There Yet? című projektje a nomád, gyökértelen életforma esszenciáját ragadja meg. Installációjában mulandó színhelyeket dokumentál különböző kontinenseken átívelő, átmeneti otthonaiban. Munkájában körüljárja és megkérdőjelezi az állandóság hagyományos fogalmát, és arra ösztönzi a nézőt, hogy elgondolkodjon az identitás képlékenységén az otthon fogalmának tükrében.”
